The Real World (not MTV style)

I am a 21 year old girl working two jobs and attending college, and the grill fell off my car a few weeks ago.  HA! That made my life sound pretty hard.  I'm grateful for my life and the ease/challenges of it.  Even though I'm not graduating any time soon I have been thinking about those who ARE graduating soon and WILL be 100% adults in the real world.  As a girl, if I'm not graduating as a school teacher or a nurse I don't know what I'm doing with my life.  Kidding.  That's too generic.  I don't know if what I will be doing when I graduate will be making a substantial amount of money or not.  I'll work hard enough to survive and maybe I won't be eating at Chick-Fil-A anymore if I can't afford that.  But I'll be happy with my work, and that's what's important to me.

Some people might say that I'm a little bit sexist or stereotypical (I hope I'm using the right words) for saying that I don't plan on being the breadwinner for my family, but I want to be a mom instead.  And I should be.  I'll probably have about 9 kids and they'll be adorably dressed in clothes that you can BET will have be purchased for a good deal. My degree will allow me to make money as needed and hopefully work a desired amount of hours.  AND I'LL BE HAPPY. But boys?  I feel so sorry for them!  As soon as they graduate high school they go to college.  By their early 20s they are working on a degree that they most likely chose to pursue before they were even an adult.  Men plan on providing for their families, but how do they know they'll be happy with their work for the next 40 years?  They don't.  It would be scary to be a boy, to dive into a job or career and consider sticking with it for the rest of your life, and crossing your fingers that it would make you happy, and it could support your family.  I would rather have a happy and healthy family than have a lot of money but uptight relationships.  Family is important, and it will all work out.

I'm grateful to be a girl, sorry boys, I hope it all works out, but if not--you could dress up and charge for pictures like this guy.

Obviously I snuck this one.

BUT NOT THIS ONE!

Mr. Right (Draft II)

My friends know me well enough to know that I am a picky dater.  Ridiculously picky.  But I'm fine with it, I'd rather be single for months at a time instead of go on dates that won't go anywhere but just to date. Really I don't like dating much, but that's what the topic of every bit of life advice I've gotten from people lately has been.  From meeting with my bishop last week to lessons, conversations with friends all the way to an encounter this past weekend I was at the temple in St. George where 67-year-old Jim.  He gave my friends and I some advice since we're all "21 and single".

He says there are only three traits that your husband needs:
  1. No bad habits
  2. Ambition
  3. Intelligence
Well, the length of this list that I made a year and a half ago definitely exceeds the three necessary traits.  Can I fix it?  Maybe.  I guess I don't have to be so particular.  I am though, because I'm sure there is someone out there who sings hymns at church, has my taste in music, a dirty mind but is super spiritual and knowledgeable about the gospel.  Oh and wears corduroy pants with good shoes.  All in all my list is pretty up to date though.  He exists.  Those 3 up there are good though, and necessary but everything can be figured out and really after living with Rachel I could live with anyone. (Just kidding Rach love you).  I have to add a number four and five. Four--has a testimony and five--hilarious, like belly ache laugh hilarious.

I found a paper in my scriptures though that says
My Future Husband:
After I filled out the characteristics I wanted when I was 14 I crossed it out and wrote
My Future Husband Self:

It's true though, just like you are what you eat.  Kind of, in a way--you are what you marry.  And it will only work if you both are 100% invested and willing.  So I hope that when I get married and am Jim's age that my husband still doesn't have any bad habits, because that's a long time to live with someone annoying me.  It's fine though, I'll be in love.

I'd Date You

I'm actually not offended at all that one of my friends told me this completely reminds her of me.  Because the other day I found this picture and thought the exact same thing.  My mom asked me to stop saying the s word on my twitter but I know she only looks at my blog occasionally.  Sorry Mom.

Instead of a romantic proposal someday I would be 100% fine with him saying this.  As long as he meets the other requirements--speaking of which, needs an update.
COMING SOON.

Gamers

Video games.  How is it that they get the best of so many people?  It got me back in the 6th grade. When I used to practice the piano in elementary my mom would bribe me with "points".  With my points I bought a Nintendo-64.  As soon as the Nintendo was in the house I quit piano.  Story ends there.  My roommate has a friend who skipped days of school to stay inside their apartment and play Zelda.  When my family got a Play Station 2 for Christmas one year my brother literally cried.  It's on film and hopefully going in his wedding video.  Those dumb video games get the best of boys.

I'll admit that there are a few games that have wasted my time as my hands cramp up and sweat like crazy.  Guitar Hero occupied the majority of my Christmas Break of my Jr. year of high school.  Mario Kart is the only game girls like.  Call us stupid, but I don't like the rest.  Girls also call every gaming system a Nintendo, and probably will forever.
Girls want boys who are good at video games as much as boys want girls who are good at spending their money.  Which is something I'm good at, so I'm sorry to my future husband--but I can stop if you can stop.  And I apologize for the negativity, just on my mind.  Someone can hate on girls for being obsessed with Pinterest.

Better With The Lights Off

I think that when it's dark most people lose a lot of their inhibition or their entire mind. (^^obviously got dressed in the dark)  In some cases all of their inhibition.  Maybe their conscience just disappears.  I went 80s dancing this week and literally had a pit in my stomach for the sickos in the corner.

I don't think I even want to call it dancing.  Dancing doesn't go on at "dance parties" anymore.  It's more entertaining than that.  If you have ever been dancing with someone and had people surrounding you clapping and yelling to keep going--you should definitely be ashamed, because you were probably embarrassing yourself.  Sorry if that sounds rude, but you were probably dancing/kissing like the pair above.  Every time I go to a dance party I feel like I'm 18 again, but I'm 21.  I refuse to ever date anyone that I meet on the dance floor.  If there were a boy at a dance party that didn't have on a basketball jersey, sunglasses, a flat brimmed hat, high tops, or extra cologne--then I might consider it.  Because boys without those characteristics don't usually attend college dance parties I don't plan on meeting someone.  Ever.  Seriously no exceptions.  Meeting someone like that is as embarrassing as meeting on Facebook in my book.  Well, almost.  Maybe.  This is the reason that I dance like I don't care, and push people out of the cages, and kick boys who are trying to photobomb pictures.

It's Exhausting

I Tweet.
I Instagram.
I HeyTell.
I could go on and on and on.

Is this too much?  I think so.  I really am way too socially connected.  There is too much information going into my head.  Too many things to consider, people to laugh at, conversations to keep track of, pictures to see--everything.  The thing with social networking is that you know too much about people.

"Did you go to Starbucks today? Yeah that picture of your drink looked amazing/hipster."
"Is your room clean?  I know you were getting so tired of it."
"How's that new music you listened to on Spotify?"
"Who were you with today at the gym? Oh never mind I saw your check in."

I read a blog post, is that about me?  I re-tweet something and wonder who's going to think it's directed that them.  I read someone's tweets and wonder why their emotions are displayed every three seconds.  Then I wonder why I'm blogging about this? Oh well.  We're all so vain, and concerned.  Oh dear.

"I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work, so I called him at home, and then he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies.  It's exhausting."  From He's Just Not That Into You.

Really, ^^^ too many means of communication, friends, teachers, boys, parents--way too socially connected.

Biff

Should I  be embarrassed that I was going too fast and had to dive off of a longboard onto asphalt to save my life from an intersection in front of a cute boy?  And then ripped my shirt, scraped my hand, got raspberries on my stomach and legs, tried laughing it off, and had to be pulled the rest of the way home?

Probably--I should be, but I'm not.  He was too great about it.

It was bound to happen with how invincible I think I am. What was worse than the fall?  Well, it's a tossup between the hydrogen peroxide I cleaned it with last night and the mint shampoo and face scrub that I used this morning.
