Christmas Around the World

After opening gifts Christmas morning it was hard to imagine that anything could beat my new socks, but this kid did it.  I am so grateful for my little brother, Cade, and his choice to serve a mission in Chile!  I love hearing from him each week.  He's still normal, thank goodness.  Christmas is such a fun time of year and I love spending it with my family, even if it is via Skype.

Birthday Eve

My (today) ten-year-old sister decided that Birthday Eve is just as important as Christmas Eve--which allows her to open one present.  We made her present her case to the family and take a vote after about an hour of her begging.  We gave in and she picked one gift.  Anyone who has the Christmas Eve tradition of opening one gift KNOWS how awful it is when you open the pajamas.

Megan opened a new hat and gloves.  Sucker.

i hate it.

happenings of my july:

1. i toilet papered a house full of boys and dropped my debit card on their front lawn. they used it to buy toilet paper and got us back. totally blew our cover, my bad.

2. one of my very best friends caitlin and her family came to visit for a few weeks from virginia. i love seeing them and catching up! look at her talent....here.

3. another one of my besties got married! congrats to shelby and jaden, i wish i could link their name to their new "married blog", but if you know shelby and her computer skills, creating a blog and uploading pictures is a little ways down the road for her. she is so happy! me too, cause i caught the bouquet.

4. i went to bear lake for a family reunion with my mom's family. it was a blast! i got some onion rings and a raspberry shake so the trip was basically complete at that point.

5. i got a white iphone. like tehya (she is in my top 3 friends for real) meet her. ughhhhhhhhhhh i feel so trendy. but i like the phone too much to put it away. the only bad thing so far is that there are 7 different text tones. that's IT. and 70% of my friends have iphones as well so it's getting reeeeeeeal annoying when they get a text and i think it's mine. (i ♥ instagram!)

6. i went to an esthetician to get my face cleared up. let me try and put that visit into one sentence for you. needles enter your skin, pressure is applied, acid, or fire, whichever name you prefer, is applied all over the skin until it dries. it worked though. this lady is magical. now i have her home product and it feels like slivers instead of nice exfoliating beads, and then just a little camp fire instead of a welding torch on my face. still, it's near torture.

7. i met new friends in salt lake. this has become a regular part of this summer and i have never been happier. the greatest part about it is that these new friends are people that i already knew (who they were) them through friends('s facebooks). it's totally cool and normal. at least now we are real life friends.

8. my roommates and i found a house and signed a lease! we are living between the nordstrom rack and tjmaxx/homegoods. so my money is basically already gone. i'm picking the key up tomorrow morning!

9. i went to a giant slip and slide in slc.

10. while in j crew i was asked if i worked there. i was SO happy.

today:

i drove through mcdonald's before school (I KNOW THAT IS AGAINST MY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION) because i needed breakfast SO badly.  mcgriddles are heatlhy right? if not, they should be. i'm just pretending they are.

i went to my computer class and felt awful for the boy next to me who was SO lost in the photoshop tutorial. i wanted to help him so badly but i would have fallen behind too! it was sad. he had dreadlocks and coffee, typical ute, typical INDIE ute.

i saw nine people that i knew on campus today, two of which i've never actually met, i just know who they are, so that's cool. anyway, i know at uvu that is usually how many you see on your strut down the hall of flags (times 3) but the U is different.  it is a real university. outdoors and everything. with people from states other than utah or california.

in my severe and unusual weather class (i needed a science credit) a man walked by the door in the hallway in rainbow reflective sunglasses, a long black trench coat, and if i remember correctly, a cowboy hat.  it was great. i like my friend allie that i met in that class, we laughed, then she dropped her pen because she likes to do that 12 times a day.

i got on facebook 3235 times.

i dropped prescriptions off at the university pharmacy for my mom, the process went as follows:
me: "hi i need to fill three prescriptions"
tech: "ok amy have you filled here before?"
me: "yes"
tech: "alright let me just verify your date of birth...?"
me: "eight, twenty-nine, sixty-eight" (sorry mom everyone knows you're 42 now :/)
tech: "" (he just looked up at me, puzzled)
me: "oh these are for my mom, sorry. i'm not 42"
then he laughed and it really was pretty funny.

i skyped with lexi and jenny.

dynamite by taio cruz was on THREE stations on at once. i hate it now.

i rode frontrunner home. a lady parked her car illegally and brought her dad onto the train who was about 75 and got him situated.  the train took off. ha. she was stuck. it was sad but she was such a good sport about it.  entertaining.

i babysat ike while my mom got a haircut.  he 3 years old.  yeah, there are some girls my age who have children who are 3 years old. sometimes when my 17 year old brother and i are walking around with him we get some weird looks, it's entertaining. but about the babysitting,  THIS is what happened in 2 minutes.

powdered milk is the finest powder in the world, and it stinks, and he ran away from me leaving a trail through the kitchen and family room afterwards. he also thinks spaghetti noodles are fun to step on. he has no remorse. and ask my mom, things like this literally happen daily.

and lastly, on a much happier note, my 3 hour night class got out an hour and a half early. and i made it to my car safely across the dark and eery campus.
