I have been to Disneyland three times in my life and up until yesterday I thought that was two too many. It's full of lines, kids on leashes, horse crap, honeymooners and overpriced ice-cream. I'm in California for ~**SpRiNg BrEaK 2012**~ right now and my friends forced me to go to Disneyland.
I dare you to challenge me in "your team/my team".
(Am I a bad person?)
$130 later I'm convinced Disneyland is a pretty happy place, probably not the happiest on earth though--because my feet hurt and I never got to eat a corn dog. My future husband can rest assured that I will not be requesting Disneyland for our honeymoon. I got a kick out of the "just married" ears. Disneyland once every 5 years or so is enough for me!
Everyone has their own sense of humor, their own outlook on life I suppose. I always find myself really clicking with those type of people who seem to be a little funnier than your average joe. I prefer the humor that takes some deep thought to understand sometimes. Simplicity is childish, not that funny. There are honestly some people my age that still laugh at Disney channel shows or cry while they read Nicholas Sparks. I'm getting off on a tangent. I don't care about Disney channel OR Nicholas Sparks books, what I'm meaning to talk about is that certain sense of....not humor....sense of judgement. The only way I can describe this is with...
The look.
You've all had those few people that "just get it". My friend describes it by saying, "we're just better." I won't go as far as saying we're necessarily better than others. Because I'm not. But I definitely do understand the look. I hope you know what I'm talking about now. I'm really trying here! You overhear someone say something ridiculous and your friend makes eye contact with you. You see someone out in public that might be a little kookoo, the person you're with gives you the look because he/she "just gets it". Understand?
The look is a little creepy sometimes. I mean if you don't understand what a recent acquaintance is starring at you with a smirk for you obviously didn't catch the joke floating around. The great thing is that once you know that somebody "just gets it" because they acknowledge the look, that you'll be great friends.
Original photos of past scenarios when the look would have been necessary:
I'd give anyone a shot who has a collection of pictures like these few of mine.
i feel like since i moved into my house with roommates i have slept a total of 19 hours in 5 days. that actually might be accurate too.
i share a room and that could have to do with the lack of sleep. "goodnight" "wait we need to laugh our heads off and dance for 3 more hours before we can sleep." "ok. cool i'm sure my eyes won't burn too badly tomorrow"
these days are too long. or not long enough? either way i just want to sleep. and school starts on mondayyyyyyyy!
she's funny AND pretty AND good at make up, it's like her job--plus she has blue hair like a native american hipster. follow her makeup portfolio through blogger. she is being featured in a wedding magazine! congrats eliseeeeeee navidad.
literally, paint till you drop. i mean i just ran into the doorway at work because i was yawning. i stayed up till 3 thursday night. SIX IN THE MORNING on friday night/saturday morning, and 2 on saturday night. our house is completely freshly painted and CLEAN though!
we are so proud of this. SO proud. it's not quite done though yet.
during the strange "friday night/saturday morning" lack of sleeping time frame amanda and i went to walmart.
looking like this. seriously.
who buys sunny d? amanda fabrizio.
we were so tired, 6 am, no food for 2 days, we had forgotten to eat. All we ate was McDonalds, consistenly--new trend? yep! I lost 5 pounds, my mom even noticed.
still, no excuse for pringles in bed when the lights are already off. but it's what we do so what?
finally decided to venture out into the real world late saturday night and try to be social. so i went with these two "the most (un)social boys i know" it helped. love them.
1. i toilet papered a house full of boys and dropped my debit card on their front lawn. they used it to buy toilet paper and got us back. totally blew our cover, my bad.
2. one of my very best friends caitlin and her family came to visit for a few weeks from virginia. i love seeing them and catching up! look at her talent....here.
3. another one of my besties got married! congrats to shelby and jaden, i wish i could link their name to their new "married blog", but if you know shelby and her computer skills, creating a blog and uploading pictures is a little ways down the road for her. she is so happy! me too, cause i caught the bouquet.
4. i went to bear lake for a family reunion with my mom's family. it was a blast! i got some onion rings and a raspberry shake so the trip was basically complete at that point.
5. i got a white iphone. like tehya (she is in my top 3 friends for real) meet her. ughhhhhhhhhhh i feel so trendy. but i like the phone too much to put it away. the only bad thing so far is that there are 7 different text tones. that's IT. and 70% of my friends have iphones as well so it's getting reeeeeeeal annoying when they get a text and i think it's mine. (i ♥ instagram!)
6. i went to an esthetician to get my face cleared up. let me try and put that visit into one sentence for you. needles enter your skin, pressure is applied, acid, or fire, whichever name you prefer, is applied all over the skin until it dries. it worked though. this lady is magical. now i have her home product and it feels like slivers instead of nice exfoliating beads, and then just a little camp fire instead of a welding torch on my face. still, it's near torture.
7. i met new friends in salt lake. this has become a regular part of this summer and i have never been happier. the greatest part about it is that these new friends are people that i already knew (who they were) them through friends('s facebooks). it's totally cool and normal. at least now we are real life friends.
8. my roommates and i found a house and signed a lease! we are living between the nordstrom rack and tjmaxx/homegoods. so my money is basically already gone. i'm picking the key up tomorrow morning!
9. i went to a giant slip and slide in slc.
10. while in j crew i was asked if i worked there. i was SO happy.
After hiking through a field and someone's backyard these dozen or so girls waited for an hour on a log for the boat to pick them up, just to avoid paying the entrance fee.
We had a good time until we got in trouble for:
1. Being in a no-boat zone.
2. Having 11 girls on a 8 passenger boat.
3. Not having proof of insurance.
4. Not having enough life jackets.
5. Not having registration on the side of the boat.
6. Probably more, we just had no idea.
3 girls had to drive away with the sheriff who let us off with a verbal warning, not even a pink slip, we're so charming.
We were good to go.
Until we ran out of gas in the middle of the lake and had to be towed.
We finally made it to Meg's cabin and took sparkler pictures on Brynn's camera. This one is particularly hilarious for some reason.
Saturday we all made it to the beach, FINALLY.
While picking the girls up from the log I received this bruise, pictures don't do justice.
FINALLY spent some time with my fedora q-ing eskimo sister after a long separation of her being home in L.A.
Then I planked on the tube, everyone just about had a heart attack.
And we ended the amazing weekend with the Fireball, the greatest roller-coaster ever.
Remember when I went to St. Thomas over Spring Break to visit Hillary and Katherine who were working for Del Sol? Well Katherine just decided she loves Del Sol so much and moved to San Francisco today for another internship! Since we have been bored basically all summer we decided to do something exciting last night. A drive in! drive-inn? I don't know.
this morning lauren hedin picks me up. i'm not ready. we almost go to bountiful, then she decides to go to salt lake. then we miss the exit. then we can't find a parking spot. then her defrost stops working so we're stranded. then we finally make it into the slc temple. then we see two men in black suits. then we see a man with an earpiece like an fbi agent. then he tells us to wait in the hallway of the temple. then we see president monson, eyering, and uchtdorf walk by. then they waved at us and were so cute! then we cried. thanks to an odd sequence of events it was a great morning :)
it's cool to meet someone that you blog-stalk, but also a big strange. you're kind of nervous that you know too much about them before you actually know......them. but it's fine! my uncle is now friends with a guy who started following him on twitter and coincidentally moved into his neighborhood. so online friendships are fine! online relationships on the other hand......eh. i don't know if that's necessarily up my alley.
my friend amanda went to dixie and met tehya her freshman year.
tehya became my friend.
tehya went to dixie her sophomore year and met haylie.
and now haylie is my friend!
and she blogs!
and her blog is cute. go check it out.
stole the pic from her, we're even fb friends now.
i have had way too many awesome conversations with random friends today. plus i have a diet coke, it's great. also i get to call my officers tonight. and it's finally acting like april outside.
sooooo last night was a big deal in xi. jessie got released as president. i made her laugh as she stood in front of everyone. then i got sustained as president. and she made me laugh while i stood at the front. awesome, not embarrassing. i'm excited though! i love xi, i'm so happy i get to work closely with our advisor vicki for one more year--especially because it's her last!
if anyone who creeeeeeps on this blog is around the 801...you need to join an lds sorority at the u. they're so amazing and you meet awesome people and have fun times. you don't need to be a student. but you need to enroll in institute, but you should anyway so you can find your ec(duh). you just....can't be over 30. that would be weird if you were 30 and wanting to spend your time with recent high school graduates anyway. look at how much FUN we have.
a free meal to cafe rio (mostly upset about this one)
$50 cash
social security card
and of course, the best wallet i've ever had.
GONE. plus my ipod, second one lost in four months.
the next day i am heading over to st thomas to visit my bff's. well, no id, no card. thank goodness for a passport and parents who can give me a bit of cash along with a credit card that ends up not working.
then to top it off my toenail got crushed in st thomas and came off. oh and my phone stopped working. so i got a new battery. then it stopped working again. so i am using a light blue chocolate and texting the old fashioned way.
so while in st thomas i had no phone. no drivers license. and no debit/credit card for emergencies. hopeless. but STILL had a great time.
got a milkshake here four times.
karaoke: fergalicious
read two books.
rode a scooter and saw some ok views.
met a thug with dreads to his ankles.
went dancing at fat turtles, ages 18-92 welcome.
saw a firedancer.
sat in a cave looking at the carribean sea and atlantic ocean with katherine.
chilled in a hammock with hill.
watched a sunset from paradise point.
joined the circus.
went to st john.
then i came home to get a new drivers' license only to find out i can get my 21 year old/adult one 6 months early! so the thief actually didn't cause me ALL that much inconvenience after all.
