Everyone knows the 24 hour rule. If you don't then let me educate you. The 24 hour rule I'm talking about is in reference to dating. When you get a phone number you shouldn't use it for 24 hours. If you go on a date you don't need to contact them again for 24 hours. This rule is often times thrown out the window, but still most everyone knows it exists whether they choose to live by it or not. There are a few other topics besides dating that I think the 24 hour rule should be applied to. Both have to do with Facebook.

I understand that in most of our minds the reason for taking a photo is to be able to put it online and show off to all of your friends all of the fun times you're having. It's ridiculous that once a photo is taken someone almost always will just candidly yell out a "caption" for that photo. Facebook being talked about outside of Facebook is annoying. But it happens, daily, and is right now. Shoot. As soon as the photos are taken (and edited of course) then it's time for them to hit the good old FB. The night is done, and there are those certain people who think it's normal to post their happenings of the day/night at 3:00 A.M. This isn't normal. I don't think I am the only one who would tell you that either. Sleep! Telling your friends what you've been up to can wait until the next day. See, 24 hour rule is valid in this situation.
There are a few exceptions that make adding someone on Facebook after having only met them once acceptable. These exceptions are so rare that I won't even take the time to mention them. I know Facebook friends don't equal real life friends--but you should at least know each other in real life. And having over 1,000 friends makes that difficult. Meeting briefly, exchanging names, never seeing each other again, but being Facebook friends is weird to me. I'm apologizing right now if I have ever done this to anyone, I'm sure I have. Even worse than the one-time-meeting add is the never-even-once-meeting add. "Hey! Yeah I think we're Facebook friends!"
